    Lazy Cooking

    06.14.06

So some nights you just don’t feel like cooking, maybe you are home alone or maybe you just can be motivated to light the grill. Well for those nights I have discovered the perfect alternative - Lucini Pasta Sauce. This sauce actually tastes natural, it tastes like real tomatoes and goes well with just about any pasta. I tried their Spicy Tuscan Tomato and was very impressed. It was hands down the best tasting pasta sauce out of a jar I had ever eaten, most of the time when you open the jar you get some version of red food coloring with water and gelatin added. This my friends is the real deal, it actually contains fresh herbs, spices and fresh tomatoes. This comes straight from Italy where they certainly know their pasta sauce and they leave out all the crap nothing artificial, nothing dried, no sugar and no water.

Even the worst cook among us can boil some water and heat up some sauce, and for those nights I recommend Lucini Pasta Sauces.

    Mobile Software Review: CityID

    06.14.06

CityID Logo Recently, I’ve been borrowing a Nokia 6682 smart phone from my current employer in order to test out some of the new software that has been developed for these high-end handheld computing devices.  This will be the first in a series of posts about these software applications and my thoughts on them.

I don’t know about you, but I don’t tend to pick up a phone call when I have no idea who might be calling me.  Today, the limiting factor is whether or not that number appears in your address book.  As I’m sure has happened to many of you, when I receive a phone call from a number I don’t recognize, the first thing I do is ask the people around me if they happen to know the location of the area code.  Unfortunately, the list of area codes that I have memorized is short and limited to places I have lived, have family, or major US cities.

As early as six months ago, I started suggesting that this would be a great thing to have on cell phones.  Sure enough, within the last month, a Seattle-based company, Cequint, came out with just such an application.

First, I would like to caveat my comments by saying that this is an early stage company with the first release of their software, so a few bugs are guaranteed.  With such an application now installed on my borrowed Nokia, you would think my problem would solved, right? Well it is, sort of.

    Zach’s new blog

    06.13.06

So I’m a huge Scrubs fan, and I’ve really liked a lot of the work Zach Braff has done. He has a good brain for directing, writing, and acting and continually makes me laugh. I found out he just launched his new blog at zachbraff.com. It’s interesting because his first post is a vlog (pronounced VEE-LOG cause I just made it up) post of him. Which makes total sense coming from a director and actor. He also has a great picture of him and Borat from Da Ali G Show fame.

I bet you laugh pretty hard by 2:30 of the video. SO hit play already!

    Great Summer Wine

    06.12.06

Need a great summer wine for the BBQ or for the deck? Look no further than this great Rose from Greece. Its available now at most Whole Foods and will only set you back $12.99. This wine is a bit more full bodied than your typical rose so it can stand up to heavier foods making it perfect for almost anything you pull off the BBQ this summer. It is made from the Xinomavro grape, a grape only grown in Greece and rarely seen here in the US. For more information check out Kiryianni. If you are in Seattle you can also find this wine currently on the wine list at Bricco on the top of Queen Anne, which was also just named one of the best wine bars in the United States!

Sling Media Launches WM5 Smartphone SlingPlayer App Gallery (MobileBurn)

While the quality of this video is amature in nature, I think this shows the power of the mobile networks that are being deployed.  Also, I think it is a good representation of how all of our entertainment lives are going to eventually converge into an on-demand model.  Slingbox is showing the world how powerful having on-demand access to your entire entertainment library is for a consumer.  Now, with devices like the Motorola Q, the Slingbox mobile application and Verizon’s CDMA 1xEV-DO network, you can get your content anywhere.  Check out the demo below!

    The Entourage Returns

    06.02.06

EntourageHBO’s Entourage returns for season three (tres — for all the spanglish people). I’ve been waiting for the new season to start back up, and I can’t wait to see what is in store. Anyway, HBO is marketing this to the target audience via Xbox 360’s Live Marketplace. They are offering up free gamer pictures and a free theme/skin for the the dashboard. Major Nelson posted a preview of them. I picked them up and promptly changed my tag from an addidas graphic to “E” aka Eric the manager. Lots of talk about others picking Johnny “Drama” or Ari the Aquaman. New season starts Sunday June 11th (Next Sunday) at 10pm on HBO, and if you need to catch up they are running Episodes 19-22 so check the schedule. The themes is on of the first good themes that exhibits balanced colors and contrast. The gamerpics are good and don’t cost money. I would have used the US Men’s National team logo, but they wanted a few pennies, so I skipped it. Nice job HBO!Eric
