To me it is insane to turn illegal immigration into a felany, its not going to fix the root problem and it is going to cost us billions. If we really want to fix the immigration issue we should remove the motivation for coming north, and that for the most part is economic. Rather than spending billions chasing people around our country who are working, putting their kids through school and generally living the American Dream we should be spending the billions to do all we can to improve the economy of our neighbors to the south. Additionally I truly belive that most of the jobs currently filled by illegal imigrants are positions that most normal Americans would not take, that means that there is a very real economic upside to illegal immigration and craking down will actually hurt the us not help it. This is one of the most complicated issues around today, and my very simplified version does not do it justice, but I do know that simply kicking people out or throwing them in jail will not fix this problem.
